Squeeky IT here, commandeering the blog today to give you a break from laundry machines and tell you about something more exciting… our new Smart Gigabit Switch!
As our laundry expands our IT network must as-well, so we’ve got ourselves a new Smart Gigabit Switch. Prior to this we were running our office PCs and IP phones through an unmanaged 100Mb Switch, so this will now allow us to separate out the phones and speed things up the on the network, especially access to the NAS drive which we use for all files. Woohoo!
Ironing was still a bottleneck after our last purchase, so it was time to go large and get a bigger roller iron.
Here’s our new 3.2m Electrolux roller iron, installed and ready to go. You can see the size difference to its smaller sibling next to it.
The big advantage with this is that large king size or greater sheets and duvet covers do not need to be folded to go through, unlike the smaller version. When large duvet covers are folded they also often needed to go through twice, to do both sides, which is not needed now.
Already making a big impact on ironing throughput.
To Improve efficiency, reduce cycle times and reduce energy usage we have now fitted a Commercial Laundry Water Softer and boiler.
This means the washing machines use less energy as they don’t have to heat up water. It’s provided from the boiler instead which does it more efficiently, thus reducing overall energy usage. Cycle times in the machines are also shorter allowing more throughput.
The Softener means less water, detergents and chemicals are needed, especially as we are in a very hard water area.
Along with our solar panels this helps our ongoing quest to be more energy efficient and eco friendly.
